The agenda for July 29, 2003 was approved.
The minutes of the July 15, 2003 was approved as read by the Secretary.

Fred Fleischman representing Thornapple Trails made a presentation to the Board with three requests.
- We would like the Barry County Road Commission to pass a resolution of support for the Thornapple Trail and in what the Barry County Communities of Thornapple Township, the Village of Middleville, the City of Hastings and others are trying to accomplish.
We believe it is important to let people know of your sentiments. It would also serve to provide direction to your staff and employees.
- The Thornapple Trail Association would also like to team with the Barry County Road Commission to have the Road Commission act as a sponsor for MDOT grants. At present, as a private non-profit corporation, the Association is not eligible to apply for two of the most common types of trail funding; Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) grants. As the sponsor, you would determine your level of involvement for each project. The Trail Association can supply the clerical work of grant writing, engineering, and grant matches.
- In the future, the Trail may have to use portions of public road easements to connect un-owned segments together. We would like to work with the road commission to establish under what terms and conditions this may be done.
Motion by Commissioner Willcutt seconded by Commissioner Dykstra authorizing Brad Lamberg as voting delegate at the annual meeting of the County Road Association Self Insurance Fund on September 3, 2003 and Donald Willcutt as alternate
