The regular meeting of the Barry County Road Commission was called to order at 9:00 A.M. by Chairman Willcutt.

Members present: Willcutt, Pashby, Dykstra, and Managing Director Brad Lamberg.

The minutes of April 22, 2003 was accepted as read by the Secretary.

Also as we requested at the annual meeting we would like an estimate or proposal on the cost of improving the portion of Greggs Crossing Road west of the part that was opened last year.

Assyria Township Resolution

Whereas: The Assyria Township Board has approved the following improvements as proposed by the Barry County Road Commission:

$30,940 for the improvement of gravel roads

$25,000 for dust control on gravel roads

The foregoing resolution was offered by Board Member Boles and supported by Board Member Morgan.

Upon roll call vote, the following voted “aye”

The Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.

Prairieville Township Resolution

Please be advised that the Prairieville Township Board has agreed to make the following road related expenditures for FY 2003:

1. Enzian Road, Cressey Road south to County Line Slag Seal $ 4,420

2. Cressey Road, Doster Road to Lockshore Road Slag Seal $38,700

3. Doster Road, M-89 to 500’ South of Long Point Slag Seal $36,550

4. 2 applications of 26% dust control $14,420

5. Gravel $10,000

6. One extra mowing $ 1,800

7. 2^nd Payment for 3-Mile Road $55,000

Total $160,890

We are still discussing paving of Pine Lake Road past cemetery and addition signs. We would like to receive first application of dust control as soon as possible.

Bob Stamm and George Goeddaeus, residents of Waldorff Road, Hope Township, turned in a statement of intention to improve the safety of Waldorff Road along Wall Lake. The possible extensions of Waldorff Road to M-43 Highway was discussed.

State of Intention

To improve the safety of Waldorff Road along Wall Lake, the undersigned residents would like to have an alternative thru road to M-43.

Towards this purpose they are willing to commit to at least $3,000 per property owner towards the development of such thru road contingent upon:

A sufficient safety grant from the State of Michigan.
Sufficient additional funds, etc., assessments to lots that will benefit from road frontage, etc., to build a road to the specification of the Barry County Road Commission.
Waldorff Road being closed at one end, to the satisfaction of the majority of the undersigned, and would remain a public road, in perpetuity.

Motion by Commissioner Dykstra seconded by Commissioner Willcutt to approve the existing retiree contracts with the addition of spousal coverage for Gary Vandecar, Robert Slocum, Donald Wolf, and Thomas Chaffee providing they retire in good standing with the Barry County

Road Commission.
