The regular meeting of the Barry County Road Commission was called to order at 9:00 A.M. by Chairman Willcutt.
Members present: Willcutt, Dykstra, Pashby, and Engineer-Manager Brad Lamberg.
The minutes of April 24, 2001 was accepted as read by the Secretary.

Mr. & Mrs. Herbert talked with the Board on brush cutting policy and the Oak Wilt disease.
Motion by Commissioner Willcutt seconded by Commissioner Pashby putting a moratorium on the cutting of identifiable oak trees by the equipment operator until July 1, 2001.

Don Jolly talked with the Board on Utility Permit Policy and the putting of utility poles in the right-of-way.
Bob Slocum talked with the Board on used trucks, brush chipper, and maintenance on garage buildings.
Motion by Commissioner Pashby seconded by Commissioner Dykstra giving Bob Slocum authority to buy 2 used pickups thru the auto auction or wholesale in a non bid status up to $25,000.

At the regular meeting of the Castleton Township Board on April 4, 2001 the request for 207 yards of crushed gravel at the cost to the township of $4,280 was approved.
Also we approved participating in the chloride application as was proposed in your April 11th letter. We assume you will be coordinating this with the gravel spread. We approved 38% chloride full width or two passes on all the gravel roads in Castleton Township.

WHEREAS, the Township Board has determined the following paved road projects for fiscal year 2001:
Payment on Gun Lake Road $35,350
Iroquois Trail – Mat Wedge & Seal $35,900
West State Road – Seal (Hastings City Limits to Iroquois Trail) $12,250
Airport Road – Seal (M-37 to West State Road) $ 5,870
Total Paved Road Expenditures $89,370
WHEREAS, the Township Board has determined the gravel road projects for fiscal year 2001:
Barry County Road Commission Recommendation $19,370
Total Gravel Road Expenditures $19,370
WHEREAS, the Township Board has determined the chloride project to be estimated at a cost of $23,000, and the centerline paint project – 5.3 miles @ $300/mile – $1,590

WHEREAS: The excellent maintenance of roads is a matter of pride in the township; and
WHEREAS: The township residents have approved extra voted millage for road maintenance; and
WHEREAS: Proper maintenance of both paved and gravel roads are a benefit to our residents;
NOW THEREFORE BE IS RESOLVED that the Woodland Township Board hereby directs the Barry County Road Commission to supply chloride application to all gravel roads in the township, using 38% solution for one continuous pass down the middle of the road, using 1000 gallons per mile, at a cost of $390 per mile.

At Barry Township’s regular meeting held May 1, 2001 we approved the placement of 38% solution continuous application, one pass down the middle of 43.6 miles of township gravel roads. We would request (2) applications, 1 in May and the 2nd whenever you think best. It was also determined to request two full width passes down the following roads:
Kingsbury Road beginning at the paved portion of Kingsbury to Osborne Road
Osborne Road beginning at Gilkey Lake to Manning Lake Road
Manning Lake Road beginning at Pifer Road to Hickory Road
Brooklodge Road beginning at Hickory Road to Sheffield Road
